Recovery Events Across Georgia Inspire Thousands

It was the first time I ever wrote a grant or put on an event; I was elated at the success! – Tarusa Adams, Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist, Phoenix Center

National Recovery Month:

Seeking Freedom from Myths & Stigma Around Addiction

From fairs and rallies to 5K races and chili cook-offs, during September the Division partnered with the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse to support diverse recovery events across the state.  In Ft. Valley, Georgia (above), Phoenix Center invited the community to rally for recovery at a Recovery Fair and Fun Day.  On the campus of Kennesaw State University (below), a 5K walk/run raised both awareness and funds for the Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery.

Recovery Month – a time to celebrate people in recovery, acknowledge the contributions of service providers, and deliver the message that recovery is possible. At a recovery rally in Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta (below), a spirit of inclusion and cooperation was evident as the event attracted people from all walks of life.
